Former County Board chairman and GAA stalwart Tom Cunningham dies

The death has occurred of former Waterford County Board chairman and Stradbally GAA clubman Tom Cunningham following a short illness.
Tom, who gave a lifetime of service to his beloved Stradbally club, was elected county board chairman back in 2010 where he serve office for a five-year period until 2015. He was also former chairman of the Western Board and also chairman of his local club.
A larger than life character, Cunningham was also a representative of the Munster Council and ran for the position of Central Council delegate at the recent December county convention losing out to Pat Grant.
During his time with Stradbally where he served as chairman and also a selector to the senior team, he saw his club dominate Waterford football winning ten county football titles since 2001 including five-in-a-row between 2001 and 2005.
He celebrated his 50th wedding anniversary to be beloved wife Margaret earlier this month. He will be sadly missed within the Stradbally and GAA community.
