This coming week will see the completion of the All County Football Leagues in five of the six divisions with the Division 6 final between Geraldines and Gaultier remaining to be fixed.

First up tomorrow evening in Lemybrien we have a repeat of last year’s county final with the meeting of Rathgormack and The Nire in the Division 1 League final. When these bitter rivals met in the opening round of this league both fielded very under strength sides due to their commitment to both county senior teams with The Nire scoring a one point win on an amazingly low score of 0-6 to 1-2 in Rathgormack. It will be a different story in Lemybrien tomorrow evening with both sides fielding their strongest available sides in what will be their last full outing before the football championship in September as both Rathgormack and Nire players will be heavily involved with Clonea and Fourmilewater respectively, preparing for and participating in the upcoming hurling championship.

We have a real ‘derby’ clash in Kilmacthomas on Friday evening with the meeting of Newtown and Kill in the Division 3 final. Both clubs have put a serious effort into the league this year and both would have genuine championship ambitions. When the teams met in the earlier round of the league Newtown won a very close game on a score of 3-10 to 1-13 but Kill will be determined to reverse that result here.

Elsewhere on Friday evening we have another all eastern divisional final with Fenor and Bonmahon both making the short trip to Dunhill for the Division 3 decider. Last year Fenor ended their alliance with Kill and won a league title on the club’s first year going it alone. This year Bonmahon are going it alone having ended their time with Dunhill and they will be seeking to boost their upcoming championship prospects with a win here.

The meeting of St. Saviours and Clashmore in Lemybrien on Saturday sees two teams in the Division 2 final who have taken the league seriously in preparation for the championships. Both have some good young players coming through and will be keen to get silverware here.

We have a third all eastern final with the meeting of next door neighbours Butlerstown and Dunhill in Fenor on Saturday in the Division 5 final. Butlerstown will be slight favourites here against a Dunhill side hoping to make a wining return to football this year following their brief spell assisting Bonmahon.
