Double blow for Déise hurlers ahead of 2025

Calum Lyons and Neil Montgomery will miss out on the 2025 hurling championship for Waterford.

Calum Lyons and Neil Montgomery won't be part of the Waterford senior hurling panel in 2025.

"Neil has moved to London," explained Déise manager Peter Queally after Saturday's loss to Cork. "His work takes him to London and that's where he is going to be for the foreseeable future. Calum Lyons unfortunately isn't coming home from Australia. He is staying in Australia. The two of them are going to be big losses for the year ahead."

Lyons has received three All Star nominations (2020, 2021 and 2024). The Ballyduff Lower defender struck three points from play against both Cork and Tipperary in last year's Munster championship.

Montgomery shot two points off the bench in the 2020 All Ireland semi final win over Kilkenny. A year later, the Abbeyside man was super sub once again when he scored 1-3 against Tipperary in the All Ireland quarter finals.
