Aimee Connolly, a 32-year-old businesswoman, oversaw a 47 per cent increase in revenues in her ‘Sculpted by Aimee’ cosmetics business to €32.62 million last year.
In another record-breaking year for Ms Connolly's cosmetics company, Sculpted by Aimee Connolly Cosmetics Ltd, revenues surged by €10.3 million from €22.23 million to €32.62 million - or average weekly revenues of €627,409 in 2024.
On the back of the sharp rise in revenues at the make-up and skincare product business, pre-tax profits at the Sculpted by Aimee company increased by 35 per cent from €2.89 million in 2023 to €3.9 million last year.
The rapid expansion of the business is underlined by the 47 per cent growth in revenues last year, following revenues rising by 50 per cent in 2023.
In their report, Ms Connolly and her fellow directors state that the results for the year were considered satisfactory and “expect continued growth in the foreseeable future”.
Last year, the number of employees increased by 86 per cent from 49 to 91 as staff costs rose from €2.47 million to €4.46 million.
Chief executive, Ms Connolly, only established her cosmetics business in 2016 after she saved up €10,000 by working as a freelance makeup artist.
The business mixes brick-and-mortar stores and engaging in-person brand experiences, masterclasses, along with its thriving www.SculptedbyAimee.com e-commerce business.
The firm’s flagship store is located at Grafton Street in Dublin, which opened in September 2022, and it also operates stores at Kildare Village, Victoria Square in Belfast and Carnaby Street in London.
In 2021, Ms Connolly - who has 222,000 followers on Instagram - won the Emerging Category at the EY Entrepreneur of the Year awards.
The ‘Sculpted’ brand business sells a range of makeup brushes, lipsticks, palettes, eyelashes, foundations, and instant tan.
Directors’ remuneration last year totalled €560,417, made up of pay of €210,417 and a pension contribution totalled €350,000.
The company recorded operating profits of €4.07 million and interest payments of €164,994, reducing the profits to a pre-tax profit of €3.9 million.
The profits last year take account of non-cash depreciation costs of €300,583.
The firm recorded post-tax profits last year of €3.41 million after incurring a corporation tax charge of €498,877.
The company business is very much a family affair with Aimee Connolly’s mother, Claire, and her husband, John Greene, sitting on the board with Ms Connolly.
Mr Greene - who runs several Camile Thai franchises with friend and Galway hurling legend, Joe Canning - joined the Sculpted by Aimee board in December 2022.
