Paralympian Damien Vereker and Olympian Ciarán Power were on hand to lend their support and officially kick off this exciting event, alongside members of the organising committee: Aoife Ennis, Ian Doogue, John Byrne, Margaret Mulligan and Frank Quinlan.

Now in its latest edition, the Sunny South East Cycle promises to be bigger and better than ever, and organisers are encouraging cyclists of all abilities to get involved.

Set for Sunday, August 24, this family-friendly cycling event offers something for everyone, with three route options to suit all levels, including a brand-new 12km family route, perfect for beginners and young riders, an 80km route, which provides a challenge for seasoned cyclists, and a 125km route for those looking to really push their limits.

All routes will start and finish at SETU Arena in Waterford, with a rolling start from 9am for the longer routes.

Family cyclists will head off once the main peloton has departed.

Participants will be supported throughout the day with marshals, first aid teams, and a bike doctor service available along the routes.

Riders on the 125km route can look forward to a refreshment stop at St. Lawrence’s Hall at the 75km mark, while cyclists on the 80km route will take a break at Durrow Car Park after 35km.

Cyclists taking on the 80km and 125km routes can look forward to hot food available at SETU Arena when they return, a well-deserved treat after a great day on the bike.

Tickets are available now via Eventbrite, and organisers are urging people to sign up early to secure their spot on this popular cycle.
