Woman sent to prison for thefts from Penneys, Sports Direct and more
A woman who received a sentence of nine month imprisonment from the District Court for a series of thefts she committed in Waterford has had her sentence appeal refused.
The thefts were committed at prominent retail outlets in the city and from unpaid taxi fares.
Twenty-six-year-old Lola Fahey, of Apartment 3, Grattan House, Grattan Quay, Waterford, was handed a nine-month sentence from the District Court for thefts she committed at several retail outlets in the city on dates between October 2023 and December 2024.
On December 31, 2024, she stole €160 worth of goods from Penneys.
On March 3, 2024, she stole clothing from Sports Direct worth €380.
She also shoplifted €16 worth of groceries from Aldi and failed to pay taxi fees worth €16 and €40.
Fahey appeared before Judge Eugene O'Kelly to appeal the sentence last week.
Judge O’Kelly said that Fahey had completely failed to engage with the probation service.
He affirmed the orders of Waterford District Court, maintaining Fahey’s nine month prison sentence.
