A 30-year-old woman has received prison time for a series of theft offences.

In July 2025, Alison O’Neill, of 106 Priory Lawn, Ballybeg, stole household items and clothing to the value of €91 from Guiney's in Waterford city.

Days later, she stole a purse from a victim in Sami Swoi grocery store on O’Connell Street.

In April 2023, she stole €55 worth of goods from Aldi The Glen.

O’Neill received a sentence of 10 months imprisonment for the offences.

The woman has 25 previous convictions, 12 of which are for theft.

O’Neill was recently sentenced in Waterford Circuit Court to a four-and-a-half-year prison sentence for robbery, in relation to a serious incident that took place in the People’s Park.

O’Neill, alongside an accomplice, approached a man in the park demanding money from him. As he tried to get away, the women began attacking him, before taking his wallet.
