West Waterford left in the dark

"What is the story with Cuil na Circe, with the lighting?” Councillor Donnchadh Mulcahy asked the question many in West Waterford have been asking themselves since at least April of this year.
Once again, public lighting was an issue for many councillors at the most recent Dungarvan-Lismore District Council meeting.
Cllr Mulcahy added, “I know myself and John Pratt have raised this issue in the past.”
Director of Roads Gabriel Hynes responded: “My understanding is that we’re waiting on the ESB to get that up; we’ll follow it up with them again.”
Councillor Kate O’Mahony also raised lighting issues at the meeting. She told the council that there were public lights out at Highfield Estate in Dungarvan, on the side of John Foley’s garage.
Later in the meeting, Councillor John Pratt raised the issue again. He half-jokingly said, “We’re broken from it”
He continued: “I know it’s the ESB, but it's disgraceful that they can’t move quicker at this. It’s in their hands now, and we need to let them know it's not good enough.”
Senior Planner for Waterford City and County Council, Aisling O'Sullivan, said: “We’re trying to make contact with the ESB to prioritise this.”
The Waterford News & Star first reported on this issue in July, when Cllr Pratt told the council this issue needed to be fixed by the wintertime.
