The Garden Kitchen cafe has announced the closure of its Ardmore café.

Citing rising costs, owners Ken and Jean Murphy posted on social media this week that the cafe will close on Sunday, September 7.

“It is with a very heavy heart we announce, that we will be closing the doors of our lovely cafe in Ardmore for the last time this Sunday, the 7th of September.

“It has been a tough struggle and difficult decision to make due to the rising costs, we were left with no choice.

“We would like to thank all our wonderful customers that have supported us through the years, and especially the winters.

“Thank you to all our fabulous staff that have worked so hard over the last few years. They will be moving to the cafe in Clarenbridge to welcome you there.

“Our cafe at Clarenbridge will be open as usual.

“Many, many thanks to all,” wrote Ken and Jean.

Under the post several people expressed their sadness at the news.

While wishing the owners well in the future, many complimented the café's offerings while others expressed their sadness at the loss of the café to the local community.
