Waterford Coast Guard's Rescue 117 made its first-ever night landing at the new helipad at Cork University Hospital on Sunday night, March 9.
The newly constructed helipad was officially opened last month by Taoiseach Micheál Martin and has moved to 24-hour operation in recent weeks.
Neville Murphy, the veteran Winch Operator of Rescue 117 said he was "delighted to be a part of the first SAR operational night landing at Cork University Hospital’s new helipad last night" in a statement on social media.
"Fantastic facility allowing us to deliver patients directly to the emergency department. The last time I landed in a CUH helipad was over 20 years ago, great to have it back. Onwards and upwards!"
