A serious weather warning has been issued for Waterford today and tomorrow by Met Éireann with thunder and spot flooding warned.

The national forecaster has issued a status yellow rain warning for Waterford and surrounding counties from 2pm today, March 21, until 2pm tomorrow, March 22.

The weather warning issued by Met Éireann forecasts that the heavy rain is expected to be joined by thundery downpours which may result in spot flooding.

In addition to Waterford, the weather warning is in place for all of Munster along with Counties Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, and Galway.

The weather forecast this weekend in the south east is for showers and longer spells of rain to develop from lunchtime with a few heavy or thundery downpours likely to hit the Déise. Met Éireann has forecast highest temperatures of 11 to 15 degrees.

Saturday will be slightly colder with heavy wet weather expected in the morning.
