A cheque presentation took place in County Waterford recently as a result of a recent vintage run that was a great success.

The Kilmeaden Vintage Tractor Club held their annual charity Tractor Run in July and in addition to being very successful it was a very enjoyable day out.

The club holds the event to raise money for a particular charity each year and this time around the chose beneficiary was Pieta.

The club members were delighted to be able to present a cheque for €2,781.50 to John Dempsey, who was representing the charity.

The presentation of the cheque was made in Lenihan’s Bar in Newtown, with many members of the club present. Those in attendance also got to enjoy some lovely food and it was a very positive night.

Mr Dempsey spoke of how thrilled the organisation was to receive such a generous donation and highlighted the fact that 87 per cent of their funds comes from charitable donations. He stressed how important the services are and how there is often a rise in calls as schools and colleges head back to a new year.
