Waterford teenager is Euro duathlon medal winner in Poland

Cillian Cloney represented Ireland and brought home a bronze medal in the European Duathlon Championships in Rumia, Poland

A teenager from County Waterford will be competing in the World Duathlon Championships in Spain next month, in the wake of securing a top-three finish in the recent Euro championships in Poland.

Fifth Year student in St Declan's Community College in Kilmacthomas, Cillian Cloney, represented Ireland at the European event and brought home a bronze medal for his third place finish.

A spokesperson for the school acknowledged the support Cillian received: "Many thanks to Cillian's coach, Brian Swaby, Triathlon Ireland and Waterford Triathlon Club for all their support."

"Good luck to Cillian who will also be competing in the World Duathlon Championships in Spain this coming June," said the spokesperson.

The school, Cillian and his family were blown away by the level of support he as received from within the school community and now everyone is eagerly looking forward to seeing how he'll get on in the World Championships.
