Waterford store sells more suncream than any other in South East
Boots sell a range of different suncreams.
Boots pharmacy in George’s Court Shopping Centre has sold over eight thousand bottles of suncream over the past two days.
This is according to Gemma, assistant manager of the store.
She said: “We can’t keep it on the shelves.”
She revealed that the shop had sold 511% more bottles of suncream today than the same day last year.
She said: “We’ve sold more than any other store in the area.”
That includes all the other Boots branches in Counties Waterford, Wexford and Kilkenny, as well as the Clonmel and Portlaoise branches.
Gemma said that whilst it's a positive that most people are being sensible about their skincare, there has also been a small increase in the sale of baby oil. This could be due to people using it to increase their chance of getting a tan.
Meanwhile, Mulligan's Pharmacy on Barronstrand Street noticed an increase in the sale of aloe vera.
The manager of the shop Donna told the Waterford News & Star to “come back on Thursday, there’ll be loads more sold”.
She said that her son went to Tramore yesterday, he came back “looking like a lobster”.
Hadil, manager of Careline Pharmacy, said that she has sold more bottles of Aloe Vera than suncream over the past few days.
