Waterford schools included in national scheme

The launch of the Safe Routes to School Programme in Garranbane National School, Dungarvan, Co. Waterford were Cllr. Jason Murphy, Mary Butler TD Government Chief Whip and Minister of State at the Department of Health, Cllr. Damien Geoghegan.
Two rural national schools in Waterford will have improved safety measures under the Safe Routes to School programme.
Our Lady of Mercy National School in Stradbally and Garranbane National School, near Dungarvan, are set to be part of the Department of Transport and Department of Education initiative.
Mayor of Waterford City and County Cllr. Jason Murphy said that by improving infrastructure at the front of schools and enhancing walking and cycling routes "we are fostering a healthier, more sustainable future for our community".
