Waterford mechanic warned by Judge over cannabis

Sinnott appeared before Waterford District Court.

A Waterford mechanic received a fine for possession of €30 worth of cannabis.

Bobby Durand Sinnott, of 178 Clonard Park, Ballybeg, Waterford, was discovered to be in possession of cannabis by Garda Damien Dunne at Clonard Park on October 10, 2025.

He was charged with possession of cannabis contrary to Section 3 of the Misuse of Drugs Act. The 28-year-old appeared before Judge Mark O’Connell at Waterford District Court.

Solicitor Hilary Delahunty told the Court that Sinnott had two previous convictions for road traffic offences but no convictions for drug-related offences. Mr Delahunty told Judge O’Connell that his client was a hard-working mechanic and a father to a young child.

Judge O'Connell ordered Sinnott to pay €600 to the St Vincent De Paul Society within the next three months.

Judge O'Connell warned him that he would "not get this chance again", saying: “You have a good future ahead of you.”
