Waterford man jailed for violent attacks on partner that left her permanently scarred

When Gardaí went to the man's address, they found a "large quantity" of blood in the kitchen, and a "trail of blood" that led to the bedroom.
A man will spend three and half years in prison for his vicious, violent attack on his partner.
Adam Konca (29), of Childers Estate, Dungarvan, appeared at Waterford Circuit Court before Judge Eugene O'Kelly.
The court heard from a Garda witness that on the evening of July 29, 2023, a member of the public saw a woman covered in blood on Youghal Road, Dungarvan. They phoned the Gardaí, who attended to the woman, then in a severely weak state, and brought her to University Hospital Waterford (UHW).
She told the Gardaí that her partner Adam Konca had punched her and kicked her multiple times.
When Gardaí went to his address, they found a "large quantity" of blood in the kitchen, and a "trail of blood" that led to the bedroom.
They found Konca face down on the bed, asleep in a drunken stupor. He had blood on his body but no injuries.
After his arrest he was ordered to stay away from the victim. On August 3, 2023, less than a week later, Gardaí were called to a location on the Youghal Road.
The woman told the Gardaí that Konca had hit her on the right side of her face, strangled her neck and verbally abused her. Konca told Gardaí during his interview: "I did stupid things, drunk, once again."
In her victim impact statement, the woman said that she has been permanently scarred and feels like a prisoner in her own home.
