Waterford housing development refused following concerns from locals

The Heritage, Ardmore
The construction of 25 homes in Ardmore has been refused following appeals from locals.
Plans for the project were submitted by Hollycourt Developments Ltd almost a year ago.
Outlined in these plans was the applicant’s intention to construct 25 residential units comprising of 3 two-bed houses, 16 three-bed houses and 6 four-bedroom houses.
Also planned was a number of site development works, including access, roads, footpaths, car parking, public and private open space.
The proposed development intended to connect into and be accessed via the neighbouring Heritage estate roadway.
Appeal was submitted however from The Heritage Residents Association, who objected to the development on a number of grounds.
The ‘grave concerns’ of residents were detailed in a letter to Waterford Council signed by solicitor Gary Kingston. Water supply, public lighting and roads issues were raised within the letter.
Mr. Kingston outlined on behalf of the residents that the roads and services in the area will in no way be able to cater for such an increased demand and that the current roads and services are already unable to cater for the existing 26 houses at The Heritage.
The letter added: ‘Our clients believe that it would be wholly inappropriate for the County Council to grant permission for a further development of the site while existing conditions have not been fully complied with.’
Waterford City and County Council made the decision to refuse permission this week.
