Fire crews in Waterford were busy over the weekend.

While the fire service was working the Christmas collection for St Vincent De Paul, off-duty crews dealt with some very serious incidents.

In a post on social media, the fire service said that Green Watch and the retained crew attended a shed fire where e-scooters and e-bikes were being charged.

They said that because of the batteries involved, the fire was difficult to extinguish.

“Please, if you are charging e-scooters/bikes, please do it outdoors and always keep a visual on it with access to plug it out safely if needed,” wrote the fire service.

Later, the crews attended a car accident in Kilkenny, but that one had a happier ending.

“It may look quite bad, but thankfully all occupants were wearing seatbelts and vehicle airbags did their job and there were no serious injuries. A roof and door removal was needed for patient extrication safety.

In wet and damp conditions, please slow down and expect the roads to be slippy.

“Drive to arrive!!!,” they wrote.
