WATCH: Rescue 117 and SEMRA assist fallen walker on Coumshingaun in Waterford

On Thursday May 8, at 2.10pm, South Eastern Mountain Rescue Association (SEMRA) received a call from An Garda Síochána to assist a fallen walker on the north ridge of Coumshingaun.
While SEMRA members were responding and making their way to the injured walker's location, a retired team member came across the injured party and offered his assistance.
The Coast Guard helicopter, Rescue 117, was requested and upon arrival the crew members winched the injured walker, while SEMRA members operating the hi-line.
Everyone got safely off the hill by 4.23pm.
A SEMRA spokesperson said via social media: "This section of the Coumshingaun loop has become a frequent location for call outs in recent times due to the erosion of the track and the loose stones underfoot. Even in good hiking boots it is very easy to lose your footing when descending the ridge."
"We wish the casualty a speedy recovery," added the spokesperson.
