Walker with serious leg injury is rescued from Comeraghs

Yesterday (Tuesday) at lunch time, South Eastern Mountain Rescue (SEMRA) crews and Rescue 117 responded to an incident near Coumshingaun on the Comeragh Mountains.
SEMRA received a call from the National Ambulance Service (NAS) to assist a walker with a serious lower leg injury at 13:40.
Team members made their way to the mast at Kilclooney and carried pain relief and a stretcher towards the casualty’s location.
The Rescue 117 helicopter was also requested due to the nature of the injury and the discomfort of the casualty.
Pain relief was provided by the SEMRA team doctor. An NAS paramedic was also present.

SEMRA members operated the hi-line and the casualty was on board and on route to Waterford at 16:07.
A SEMRA spokesperson said: "We wish the casualty a speedy recovery. Smoke from the Slievenamon fire could be seen all around Coumshingaun. Our thoughts are with the Slievenamon community and Tipperary Fire & Rescue Service, may they all be safe."
