Bonmahon is facing a critical shortage of wastewater infrastructure.
Recently, Waterford City and County Council urged Uisce Eireann to address the absence.
In a letter of response from Uisce Eireann, the national water body said that wastewater facilities in Bonmahon will not progress until at least 2029.
The letter added that Uisce Eireann will investigate the possibility of interim upgrades, particularly in the area’s main septic tank.
Reacting to the letter last week, Bonmahon native Councillor Catherine Burke, said the response was “unacceptable”.
She urged Waterford Council to revisit the issue.
“The correspondence really says nothing” Cllr Burke said.
“They say they will put interim measures in place; however, they don’t tell us when they’re going to do that. I think we need to write back because this is not sufficient.”
