Uisce Éireann move along with major wastewater network upgrade in Waterford City

Uisce Éireann has announced the beginning of preliminary works for a major project upgrading the wastewater network in Waterford city which aims to support sustainable growth, protect the local environment and deliver long-term benefits for the community.

On site investigations, which are a key element in the design of such a major project, are scheduled for this week and will be carried out by Causeway Geotech Ltd., on behalf of Uisce Éireann.

The project will include an upgrade of the Island View Pumping Station and the wastewater network in Knockboy on the Dunmore Road as well as surrounding areas.

On the commencement of the works, Hugh Kennedy, Portfolio Manager with Uisce Éireann, said: “Site investigation works mark the beginning of a long‑term programme to upgrade Waterford City’s wastewater network and improve how it performs during periods of increased demand.

“By enhancing capacity and resilience, the project will help reduce flooding risk, protect the local environment, and support future growth for the wider area.

“We would like to thank the local community in advance for their support and patience as we work through the design of this critical project”  Once the design phase is completed, Uisce Éireann will continue to progress this project and deliver the new infrastructure to Waterford City.
