Uisce Éireann has issued a statement this evening (Thursday, May 8) that it is making progress in restoring water supply to homes and businesses in the Ballybeg area of Waterford City.

Water supply in the area was disrupted on Thursday following a significant burst to a trunk main, affecting customers in Ballybeg and surrounding areas.

"Expert water service crews are on site, carrying out the required repair work," said a spokesperson for Uisce Éireann. "Every effort is being made to complete this work as quickly as possible."

Repairs are expected to be completed by 10pm this evening.

Maura Phelan, Uisce Éireann Water Operations Manager, said, “We apologise for any inconvenience and would like to thank the community for their patience and understanding while crews work to repair the burst.

"Due to the size and location of the burst, repairs have been challenging.”

After an interruption to supply, normal water supply can take several hours to return to all customers, Uisce Éireann added.

Vulnerable customers registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.
