Trio sent forward for trial in relation to alleged false imprisonment and assault in Waterford

Three men have been sent forward for trial in relation to an incident where a person was allegedly imprisoned and assaulted at an address in St John’s Park.

Andrew McDonagh (27), of 35 Ballytruckle Road, Waterford, and Kerlogue Manor, Wexford, is charged with assault causing harm, false imprisonment and production of an article capable of inflicting serious injury, namely copper pipes, during an incident on October 14, 2025, at an address in St John’s Park.

Michael McDonagh (30), of 86 St Herblain Park, Waterford, and 11 Meadow View, Cahir, is charged with false imprisonment, threats to kill or cause serious harm and production of an article capable of inflicting serious injury during the same incident on October 14, 2025.

Bernie Patrick McDonagh (18), of 11 Dun Uisce, Cahir, Tipperary, is charged with false imprisonment, production of an article capable of inflicting serious injury and assault causing harm during the same incident.

Sergeant Michael Hickey applied to the court to send all three men forward for trial to the current sittings of Waterford Circuit Court on the consent of the DPP, which was given on February 23. Judge Kevin Staunton granted the application.
