Trial for man accused of murder expected to start in Waterford later in month

A trial date for a 35-year-old man accused of murdering Waterford woman Gillian Curran is to be set next week.
Ms Curran, who was 47 and from Tramore, was found unresponsive at a house on O'Brien Street in Waterford city by emergency services shortly after 10am on January 25, 2025.
She was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

On Wednesday, Ms Justice Karen O'Connor adjourned the case until Thursday, June 11 for mention.
A date is then expected to be set for the trial to open before the Central Criminal Court in Waterford.
Senior Counsel for the prosecution, Conor O'Doherty told the court that it was likely that the trial would begin on either June 22 or June 29.
The trial will take place before a jury at Waterford Courthouse and is expected to last around two to three weeks.
