Tower Hotel in Waterford evacuated due to fire

The Tower Hotel in Waterford City was evacuated at around 10am this morning (Tuesday December 3) due to a minor fire which broke out in the hotel kitchen area.

Four fire brigade units and an ambulance attended the scene. A member of the fire service confirmed to Waterford News & Star that the fire was maintained to the kitchen area and quickly brought under control.
There were no injuries.

The hotel's guests were evacuated to the rear carpark of the building as a precaution, with hotel staff kindly supplying them with teas and coffees while they waited. A number of guests were using the hotel pool at the time of the evacuation.

It is understood that a conference was also taking place at the hotel at the time.
