Three Waterford women face charges over interfamilial fight
Waterford Courthouse
Three women from Waterford face charges of assault causing harm following an interfamilial incident at the Back Strand car park of Tramore Burrows.
Claire Corcoran, of 4 Gort Na Mara, Riverstown, Tramore, Christine Doyle of 7 Glen Doire, Tramore, and Sarah Doyle, of 6 Market Square, Portlaw, all face prosecution following an incident on April 7, 2025.
The court heard that the three women allegedly assaulted another woman, who received blows and kicks on the ground, leaving her badly bruised. The victim’s nipple piercing was forcibly removed in the fight and it took two Gardaí to break up the incident.
The court heard that there were varying degrees of involvement amongst the three parties.
Judge Kevin Staunton, looking at photographic evidence, said: "I'm looking at bruising; it is extensive bruising all over the body."
Acting on behalf of the defendants, solicitor Ken Cunningham said that the interfamilial nature of the incident needed to be emphasised.
The case was adjourned until May 14, as jurisdiction is considered in the matter.
