Gardaí investigate as teenagers throw glass jar and other items from roof of Waterford city shop
Several shopkeepers in Waterford city have told the Waterford News & Star that teenagers have been throwing things, including a glass jar, from the roof of Intersport Elvery's onto Michael Street.
It is understood that there is a way of accessing the roof of the shop through the apartments behind Elvery's.
One shop assistant spoke to the about the incident. They said they didn’t see who was throwing the items because “we were scared so we just stayed inside the shop.”
They said the street was busy, and people were sitting on the public benches on Michael Street, but had to leave due to safety concerns - items thrown included a glass jar of tomato salsa.
“You could hear the glass shatter outside.”
According to the shopkeepers, this incident has occurred multiple times over the past two weeks.
According to the Gardaí, “the matter is under investigation.”
