TFI to extend services in Waterford over the Christmas period

Passengers in Waterford will have more ways to travel during the festive season, with extended evening and late-night services across the Transport for Ireland (TFI) network.
A spokesperson for TFI said whether people are heading home after a Christmas party, visiting family, or celebrating New Year’s Eve, there will be a service to ensure people's journey home will be safe, convenient and affordable.
Bus Éireann Waterford now runs extended evening services on popular city routes connecting key destinations such as Ballybeg, WIT, Meagher's Quay, Browne's Road and Oakwood. "Whether you are heading to a party or finishing a late shift these routes keep the city moving well into the night," said the spokesperson.
On Christmas Eve, all services will operate as normal, with last departures from termini at 9pm. There will be no services on Christmas Day and on St Stephen’s Day, Sunday timetables will apply, with most routes starting at 9am. Normal timetables will resume from December 27 through to December 31 and on New Year’s Day, Sunday timetables will operate will full normal service resuming on January 2.
TFI Local Link Waterford is also making rural travel easier with expanded evening services linking communities to Waterford City and beyond.
Routes now connect places like Marlfield, Youghal, Dungarvan, Tallow, Tramore and Waterford Hospital.

Rail services between Waterford and major destinations including Dublin continue to operate later, giving passengers more flexibility for evening travel.
Iarnród Éireann will operate revised timetables between December 24 and January 5, including earlier last departures on Christmas Eve, no services on Christmas Day, and reduced schedules on St Stephen’s Day and selected dates.
Passengers are advised to check times before travelling.
Taxis continue to provide additional flexibility for those travelling late at night, with almost 500 licensed drivers available in Waterford.
