'Terrible weekend' - woman (60s) dies after N25 crash

The collision happened on Sunday, March 30.

A woman in her 60s has died after a three-car collision near Dungarvan, Co Waterford. 

On Sunday afternoon, March 30, Gardaí were alerted to a three-car collision on the N25 at Moonameen. 

The crash occurred at approximately 2.10pm. A passenger of one of the cars was pronounced deceased at the scene. Her body has since been removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Waterford where a post-mortem examination was due to take place. Three people are being treated for serious injuries. 

Dungarvan TD Conor McGuinness commented to Waterford News & Star: "People locally are coming to terms with the news that this latest collision on the N25 has resulted in a fatality. My thoughts are with the family of the deceased as they receive this heartbreaking news."

Deputy McGuinness added: "This has been a terrible weekend with three deaths on roads across the state. My heart goes out to all those affected. I’m also thinking of those who were injured in the collision and of the emergency personnel who were on the scene."

Gardaí are appealing for any witness to come forward, especially road users who were in the area between 1.10pm and 2.10pm and who may have dash-cam footage.
