Suspended sentence for bedroom attack

Waterford Courthouse
A Waterford woman received a suspended sentence for her part in a burglary on a woman's home in the city.
Rosemary Moran (49), of Anne Street, Waterford, illegally entered the bedroom of a woman on May 13, 2021, also on Anne Street.
Ms Moran and another person forced their way into the bedroom and began to threaten the woman and throw implements, like a lamp and TV set, at her.
Last November Ms Moran appeared before Waterford Circuit Court where she was given a chance to engage with probation and therapeutic services.
This week, she was given a suspended two-year sentence due to a positive probation report, and will be under supervision for the first six months of the sentence.
Judge Eugene O'Kelly noted that while there was no Victim Impact Statement, "nonetheless, this must have been a traumatic experience for the victim, she had a lamp smashed on her shoulder."
"Any burglary is a serious matter," he said.
