Student gets renewable energy scholarship

Thomas Walsh, from Waterford city, has been chosen as one of two recipients of the Niamh Burke Memorial Bursary for 2024.
Thomas Walsh from Waterford City recently impressed the judges at The Niamh Burke Memorial Bursary.
The bursary annually awards a sum of €10,000, which may be split between recipients, to support students pursuing education in the area of renewable energy.
On his awarding of the bursary, Thomas said, “I'm extremely grateful to the family of Niamh Burke, Arthur Cox and Wind Energy Ireland for receiving the Niamh Burke bursary towards my master’s degree in Energy Systems Engineering. Ireland has lots of work to do in managing affordability, sustainability and security throughout the transition, and there's nothing I'd rather do with my career.”
