A fascinating book was launched recently in County Waterford based around the life of St Lily Scullion.

In 'From Croke Park to Glencairn’, Sr Lily recounts her life story, which began on a small farm in Ahoghill, Co. Antrim and ended up in a Cistercian Monastery in Co. Waterford.

She has been a beloved member of the monastery's community there for over 40 years.

In the book, which is an intriguing and fascinating autobiography, Sr. Lily writes about her journey into youth work in Newry and Belfast during ‘The Troubles’.

It also highlights what it meant to her when she won a coveted All-Ireland Camogie medal with her native Antrim, in Croke Park in 1967.

A compelling read, the forward of the book highlights how it's a story of how 'the grace of God can take us in the most unexpected of directions, once we are open to its stirrings'.

The official launch of the book took place on Saturday, October 11, in the Hospitality Centre in Glencairn Abbey.

Rev Monsignor Willie Ryan launched the book in the conference room and light refreshments were provided for those in attendance.

Sr Lily took great joy in signing copies of the book at the launch.

The book is now on sale locally and is available in the following locations in County Waterford: Tallow Post Office; Lismore Post Office; The Pharmacy, Tallow; The Heritage Centre in Lismore  and in St Mary’s Parish Office, Dungarvan.
