Speed camera testing ongoing on approach road to Waterford

The new speed camera on the N25 between Waterford and New Ross.
Motorists travelling on the N25 between Waterford and New Ross may have noticed a new speed camera being erected along the stretch between the top of Glenmore hill and the Rhu Glenn.
The new camera is expected to become fully operational within the coming weeks.
A spokesperson for Waterford Gardaí told the Waterford News & Star waterford-news.ie that testing on the camera is "ongoing" at the moment.
It's understood the camera is still at "review" stage and that testing is taking place.

It's located in an area where there have been a number of serious road traffic accidents in recent years, some of which resulted in fatalities.
The new camera is part of a pilot project aimed at improving road safety on what is one of the most heavily trafficked roads in the country.
The N25 isn't just the link road between Waterford and New Ross it's also the main tourism route from Rosslare Europort in Co Wexford to through County Waterford, the south east and on towards the south and west of the country.
The new camera will be operated by GoSafe and will be able to monitor traffic heading in both directions.

Motorists caught speeding can face fines and have penalty points endorsed on their licence. In cases of seriously excessive speeding vehicles can be seized and court proceedings can be initiated.
Regardless of whether or not speed cameras are in place motorists are reminded that for the safety of all road users adherance to all speed limits and consideration of road and weather conditions are or paramount importance at all times.
