Spate of burglaries across Waterford under investigation
The power washers stolen are valuable pieces of equipment.
The Gardaí in Waterford are investigating a spate of burglaries that occurred in various locations in the county in recent days.
A spokesperson for the Gardaí said the first incident occurred on Tuesday, December 2, between 8am and 4.30pm at Lyons Cross in Ballyduff Upper.
In that incident a house was ransacked and a number of items stolen from the property, specifically some watches and a sum of cash.
On the same day, in Knockaun in Ballymacabry, another burglary occurred between 2pm and 5pm when items of jewellery were stolen from a house along with a sum of cash in €2 coins.
On the same day, Tuesday, December 2, a third house was broken into, this time in Ballyduff Upper.
That house was also ransacked during the day and again items of jewellery, and a jewellery box with glass inserts were stolen.
"This was between the hours of 8am and 7pm when it was discovered," said the Garda spokesperson.
There was a further, attempted burglary, also on the same day, at around 4pm in the Kilanthony, Knockanore area.
In that incident the home owner disturbed two males attempting to gain access through the side of the house.
"Gardaí are looking for the public's assistance in tracing a light blue vehicle, possibly a Volkswagen Jetta or Passat, which was observed in the area with three males, one heavy set and two others in their 20’s," said the Garda spokesperson.
"If you can assist, please contact the crime unit at Dungarvan Garda Station 058 48600 or any Garda Station," she said.
Two more burglaries occurred in Sheanbeg, Ballyduff Upper, between 5pm on Wednesday, December 3, and 9pm the following day.
In those incidents two power washers were stolen from two milking parlours.
The first was a Eurojet, diesel power washer that was mounted on a black frame with wheels.
The second one was a petrol operated, mounted Honda GX390.
"These are valuable items and essential to these dairy farmers," said the Garda spokesperson.
"If you have been offered these items for sale or can assist with the investigation, please report it," she added, before commenting: "Again we would encourage people to report any suspected crimes by phoning 999/112 or their local Garda Station."
