Spar returning to Ferrybank 

Spar is set to re-open in Ferrybank.

Triode Newhill Management Services Limited confirmed that they were in the process of leasing out the premises to a new local retailer to trade as 'a newly refurbished SPAR convenience store.'

The news was shared on the Facebook community page 'Ferrybank Focus' by administrator Steve Thwaites. 

The official opening date is yet to be announced as the legal process in still underway. 

The Spar shop closed last year citing 'rising costs', which left many residents without an essential local amenity.

The news of the re-opening comes as Ferrybank experiences a resurgence in retail options. 

A new beauty shop is scheduled to open next week on the former Paddy Power premises.

Last month, Ferrybank Shopping Centre was given the green light to proceed after Waterford City and County Council withdrew their controversial legal challenge against Kilkenny County Council. 

Kilkenny County Council released a statement at the time: “After a significant delay, this is hugely positive news for the Ferrybank community, Better Value Limited (Dunnes Stores), and an endorsement of the planning decision made by Kilkenny County Council.”
