Severe wind warnings for Waterford as Storm Darragh looms

A severe yellow wind warning has been issued for Waterford on Saturday as Storm Darragh is set to hit the Waterford coast this weekend.
Met Éireann has issued a status yellow gale warning for all coasts of Ireland, including the southeast, and on the Irish Sea. The national forecaster is warning that southwest winds, which may veer towards northwestern-ly winds, will reach gale force 8 and could stretch as high as strong gale force 9 at times for the rest of the day.
A status yellow wind warning has been issued across the entire country, as Met Éireann warn that storm Darragh will bring strong and gusty south to southwest winds which could potentially fell trees and create debris on roads.
Drivers have been warned that there may be difficult travelling conditions and some wave overtopping onto roads from 3pm on Friday until 3pm on Saturday.
As Storm Darragh makes land in Waterford this weekend, Met Éireann has issued a status orange wind warning for Waterford, as well as Wexford and Wicklow.
"Very strong and gusty northwest winds," are likely this weekend, the national forecaster stated, warning that fallen trees and damage to power lines are possible so people should be aware when driving near overhead power lines. A warning of possible damage to temporary structures is in place while Met Éireann has upgraded to a 'Very difficult' travelling conditions warning on Saturday with a continued warning of wave overtopping.
