Residents raise road safety issues at public meeting
Residents asked for the implementation of a pedestrian crossing, and the repair of a large pothole.
Two public safety issues have been referred to Waterford City and County Council's road's engineer, following roads issues raised by members of the public.
Residents in Carriglong and Ballyknock raised the issues at last week's Waterford Local Community Safety Partnership public meeting, where their queries were put to Director of Services for Waterford City and County Council Seamus de Faoite.
In the interest of public safety, residents asked for the implementation of a pedestrian crossing, and the repair of a large pothole, which may cause flooding hazards in the near future as the weather changes.
Mr de Faoite said he would refer the issues to the local roads engineer, who will "review them very carefully", adding that they have three thousand kilometres of roads to maintain every year with a budget of around €35 million for context.
