South Eastern Mountain Rescue Association (SEMRA) and Rescue 117 crews assisted a walker with an ankle injury above Coumshingaun Lough in the Comeragh Mountains on Sunday, August 18.

Team members began to head up from Coummahin to the casualty location and assistance from Rescue 117 was requested. 117 was able to divert from a training exercise to attend the scene.

The casualty was winched into the helicopter with a SEMRA member assisting with the hi-line. They were met at Waterford Airport by the National Ambulance Service who transferred the casualty to hospital. A SEMRA spokesperson said, “We wish the casualty a speedy recovery.”
