The rehabilitation unit at the Waterford Residential Care Centre has been found to be fully, partially and substantially compliant by HIQA inspectors.

The inspection was announced and took place on October 22 and 23, 2024.

The inspectors said: “Staff were observed interacting with patients and families in a kind and caring manner, and patients’ needs were responded to promptly.

“This was validated by a patient who stated that “staff care about you”. Inspectors observed positive engagement between staff and patients. Patients who spoke with inspectors knew who to raise a concern or issue with if they had one.”

COMPLIANCE

The areas of full compliance were the transition of care, systematic monitoring arrangements, and the promotion of service users' dignity, privacy, and autonomy.

The centre was also found to be fully compliant in promoting a culture of kindness, consideration, and respect, addressing complaints and concerns, the physical healthcare environment, healthcare monitoring, and patient safety.

The centre was partially compliant with formalised governance arrangements, and design and delivery of healthcare that protects service users from the risk of harm.

It was substantially compliant in the area of workforce management.

The unit is located in Johns Hill and has 15 beds.
