Public asked to suggest new priorities for Waterford Council

Waterford City and County Council has invited the public to help guide the work of the council over the next five years.

Waterford City and County Council has invited the public to help guide the work of the council over the next five years. The public consultation process will advise the council in their action plan over the term of the council.

“Over the lifetime of this Council, the views of the public are intrinsic to developing a corporate plan that is innovative, ambitious and sustainable and supports the needs of Waterford as the best place to live, work, do business in and visit," the Mayor of Waterford City and County, Cllr. Jason Murphy said.

The corporate plan will be created based on the submissions of the people of Waterford, with submissions guiding the priorities of the council, whose term will take place between 2024 and 2029.

Submissions to the corporate plan will help the council to decide on a vision of what work the council should focus on during the period. The plan will outline the five main aims of the current council term, from now until 2029.

The existing corporate plan was decided by the same method in 2019, when the public made submissions guiding the council to decide on six aims including, becoming a driver of regional growth, achieving balanced regional development, and focusing on people and communities.

"The Corporate Plan 2024-2029 will be our roadmap to deliver strategic priorities and ensure that the needs of all Waterford citizens, communities, and stakeholders are met,” said Sean McKeown, Chief Executive of Waterford City and County Council.

"Input from the public is invaluable and will help us shape the corporate plan and consequently develop the organisation's Annual Service Delivery Plans."

Any observations submitted to the council will be considered, Waterford City and County Council said. The submissions will be combined into a report on the public consultation process, which will be provided to the elected members of Waterford City and County Council to assist in finalising the corporate plan.

The online public consultation portal is open until 5pm, on Friday, October 11, and submissions can be made by visiting https://bit.ly/CorporatePlan24-29

Submissions can also be made by emailing Honor Dunphy, hdunphy@waterfordcouncil.ie, or by post to Honor Dunphy, Administrative Officer, Corporate Office, Waterford City and County Council, City Hall, The Mall, Waterford, X91 H6Y3.
