Psychic medium is hosting an evening to remember in Waterford this January

Fiona Stewart Williams first realised she was clairvoyant when she was 10 years old.

When the topic of a medium comes up, many think of crystal balls, long robes, and a room filled with candles. Northern-Irish Psychic medium Fiona Stewart Williams isn’t particularly like that.

“I’ve probably been clairvoyant since birth,” she told the Waterford News & Star.

Clairvoyancy is the psychic ability to receive intuitive information. She will be visiting Waterford's Tower Hotel on Saturday, January 14, for part of her tour ‘Hello from Heaven’.

Fiona’s mother often said she had a great imagination. “Oh Fiona, you’ve a great imagination,” was a phrase spoken regularly. Fiona was only 10 years old when she was sitting in her garden in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Shockingly, her father came to her in a spirit form. Unbeknownst to Fiona, earlier that day, her father had visited the hospital for an operation.

“You didn’t tell children things like that back then. They were kept private.”

Her father, in spirit form, told Fiona that he had passed away. Later that evening, her family told her that her father had died. That was when Fiona became aware that her gift was more than her imagination; it was reality.

The fear engulfed Fiona. She was already dealing with living in Belfast during The Troubles.

“I didn’t handle it at all; I had to ignore it.”

She couldn’t handle this additional information - that she was clairvoyant. She suppressed it, pretended it wasn’t happening, and pulled the blanket over her head. She was only a child and found it very difficult.

It wasn’t until Fiona turned 16 that she started to explore her abilities. This was a time when mobile phones didn’t exist, and neither did the internet.

“Can you imagine a time without your mobile phone? We didn’t have anything like that.”

She often visited the library, reading any book that could give her answers. There wasn’t the biggest selection, however, she made the most of the situation. She studied clairvoyance and attended a spiritualist church, quickly joining their spiritual circle.

A spiritual church is a community that emphasises communication with the spiritual world and believes in life after death, through mediumship. From there, she joined the Spiritual National Union. They promote spiritualism as a religion in Ireland. Educating herself helped Fiona lose her fear.

“I educated myself to lose my fear and to be able to help others to the best of my ability.”

At present, Fiona has been a working psychic medium for over 30 years. She has demonstrated mediumship at spiritual churches and still does; however, now she also helps the public.

Generally, she very rarely has people from her own life come forward unless it is for a particular reason.

“It’s not like I can have a conversation with my granny,” Fiona said. “I’m in service for other people, but not myself.”

Fiona believes that her father came to her when she was 10 years old for a reason. He possibly came to her to alleviate her fear of everything, or to soften the blow of his passing; to this day, she is not sure.

When she comes to Waterford, Fiona will be upfront on stage. Fiona told the Waterford News & Star that the ambience will be charged with spiritual energy.

"Those from the spirit world - friends, family, neighbours - who knows somebody in the audience may be present,” Fiona said. They come forward and impress their essence and information onto Fiona.

“I’m like a postmistress to the spirit world,” she said.

Fiona then delivers this information to the audience. The spirit may reveal information, such as who they are, how they are connected to someone in the audience, what they passed away from, their condition, what memories they may have, and, of course, why they have come forward.

Fiona has written two books, Memoirs of a Psychic Medium and A Wee Book of Manifestation and Spells. Waterford is just one of the stops on her tour, as she is also travelling to Antrim, Belfast, Carlow, Cavan, Cork, Derry, Down, Fermanagh, Kildare, Limerick, Louth, Mayo, Offaly, and Sligo. She is continuing her tour in Scotland, Wales, and England. Tickets for her Waterford event are available online on Eventbrite and are €25 online, or €30 on the door if tickets are available. Whether you are a believer or a skeptic, it will be an interesting night for all.
