New signage for Waterford City's quays is on the way.

Councillor Mary Roche requested  at a recent sitting of the Metropolitan District Council that signs be erected to make people aware of the individual names of the Quays.

“Everyone refers to the Quays in Waterford as The Quay, but historically, we have Merchant’s Quay, Meagher’s Quay, Parade Quay, Adelphi Quay, Grattan Quay, so I’m just wondering if it was possible to actually have the proper signage put up on the Quay as soon as we can,” said Cllr Roche.

Senior Engineer Michael Murphy responded that it is on his to do list.

“That has been asked for before its on the to do list. I just haven’t had a chance to progress it.

"It will either be done by economic development or we will liaise with roads to see if its more appropriate,” said Mr Murphy.
