A man described as being “very high in the drug dealing chain” in Waterford has been jailed.
The man was known to have distributed large quantities of drugs to young people at festivals.
41 year old David Hamm, with an address at 68 St Herblain Park, Waterford, pleaded guilty to a number of offences in a multicount indictment, and was sentenced last week at Waterford Circuit Court.
Following periodic Garda surveillance of Hamm’s residence, an intelligence-led search was carried out in March 2023.
€22,000 of drugs were found, including cocaine, MDMA, cannabis and diamorphine.
1,000 grams of benzocaine, a common cocaine mixing agent, was also found.
Drug paraphernalia and €12,410 in cash were seized.
Whilst giving evidence in Waterford Courthouse last week, an investigating garda member described Hamm as being very high up in the chain of drug dealing.
Hamm's defense counsel, Mr. Colman Cody SC, told the court that his client cooperated with gardaí and made full admissions to the offences.
Judge Eugene O'Kelly outlined that there is significant evidence of the man's attempts to rehabilitate.
He was sentenced to six years in prison with the final two years suspended.
