Popular SETU Chaplain Fr David Keating dies

There is widespread sadness amongst the religious and SETU Waterford communities following the untimely death of Fr. David Keating, which occurred on Saturday, February 7.
A Chaplain at SETU Waterford since 1999, he was a native of the Parish of St. Joseph, St. Benildus and St. Mary’s and was educated in St. John’s College, Waterford, before he was ordained to the priesthood in the Cathedral on June 5, 1993.
Fr David served as a curate in Dunhill, St. Paul’s, Kilgobinet, St. Mary’s, Clonmel, and the Holy Family Parish until he was appointed Chaplain to the Waterford Institute of Technology back in September 1999, where he continued his ministry for the last 26 years.
Bishop Alphonsus Cullinan said that “He will be remembered with gratitude for his pastoral commitment and for the many lives he touched through his ministry.” Fr David Keating’s funeral Mass will be celebrated this Saturday, February 14, at St. Mary’s Church, Ballygunner at 1pm, with burial afterwards to the adjoining cemetery.
He is survived by his mother, Monica, brother John, sisters Janet, Deirdre and Susan, fellow priests, extended family and friends.
