Playgrounds need upgrading in Waterford

Building new playgrounds, as well as expanding existing ones was the topic of discussion at the recent meeting of Waterford councillors.

Waterford playground facilities need to be expanded and upgraded, according to local councillors.

Cllr Conor McGuinness raised concerns over Dungarvan playground, saying steel bars have become unsafe and broken in some areas. Meanwhile Cllr Cronin said that locals are pleading for a playground to be built in Ballinroad. He also called for disability units to be added to the Clashmore playground.

Gabriel Hynes, Senior Engineer with Waterford Council said this week: “In relation to disability use, certainly we will look at installing additional equipment. We would be in favor of ensuring there are playgrounds that can be used by all.”
