Plans have been submitted to transform the site of a former care home into new residential units.

Maypark House Nursing Home, located just off the Dunmore Road, ceased operations in 2022.

Planning application submitted this week by Maypark Lane Ltd, proposes to provide a total of 29 new residential units at the site.

The proposed development will be made up of 25 apartments and 4 houses, with a mix of unit types comprising 19 one-bed, 5 two-bed and 1 three-bed apartments, and 3 two-bed two-storey and 1 three-bed two-storey houses.

Work will also include the select demolition of modern two-storey extensions to the front and side of the main care home building.

New build elements of the works will include a new two-storey extension to the front and rear of the existing north-western corner of the building, a single storey extension to two existing out-buildings and new first floor extensions to two existing out-buildings.

Provision of new balconies, repairs to the external envelope of all buildings where necessary, provision of car parking and a new internal one-way driveway are proposed.

A decision on the development is expected from the local authority by October 27.
