Plans submitted for 'major' heating network in Waterford
Planning permission is being sought for the heat recovery plant room and storage tanks at Bausch & Lomb in the Waterford Industrial Park.
Planning permission is being sought for the development of a major heating centre and pipeline network in Waterford City.
On September 18, plans were submitted for HeatGrid Ireland Limited's application for '10 year permission' to construct the heating centre and adjoining pipeline network.
The company intends to construct the heating district centre at Waterford Crystal on Ashe Road.
At Bausch & Lomb, they intend to build a heat recovery plant room (GFA 24.7 sq.m) and storage tanks.
The proposed pipeline is measured at 8.8km and would run within the roads of the city, from Ballynakill to Ballynaneashagh.
According to HeatGrid's cover letter to Waterford City and County Council (WCCC), the heating centre at Waterford Crystal will consist of a "boiler and heat pump building (GFA 619 sq.m), an equipment and welfare building (GFA 281 sq.m), ancillary and staff welfare buildings, thermal water tanks, a 13-metre flue, dry air coolers, gas boiler units, heat pumps, staff welfare facilities, and associated drainage, water and utility service infrastructure."
The company are planning to construct a 8804m-long district heating network pipeline in the townlands of Ballynakill, Farranshoneen, Williamstown, Grange Upper, Grange Lower, Ballytruckle, Kingsmeadow, Kilbarry, Pastimeknock, Lisduggan, Skibbereen, and Ballynaneashagh.
They are also seeking permission to build a a heat recovery plant at Bausch & Lomb, Waterford Industrial Park.
The proposed development includes all associated site development and site enabling works and ancillary infrastructure.
A Natura Impact Statement (NIS) has been prepared in respect of the Proposed Development.
The application is at the pre-validation stage with the Planning Department of WCCC.
