Development company Fitzur Limited have sought planning permission to construct 26 single-storey residential units on Ozanam Street in Waterford City.

The developments will specifically be designed to cater to older persons.

Plans outline the construction of six 2-bed mid-terrace bungalows, four 2-bed end-terrace bungalows, four 1-bed end-terrace universally accessible bungalows, six 2-bed mid-terrace universally acceptable bungalows, and four 2-bed semi-detached bungalows.

The development would include changes to widen the access road at the junction with Ozanam Street.

Fitzur Limited had previously applied for planning permission to build 24 single units on Ozanam Street in 2021, but had withdrawn.

The original plans had attracted planning submissions from telecommunications company 2rm.

2rm commercial manager John Clarke argued that the initial plans did not account for the presence of an RTÉ Transmission mast at the site, and a development would prohibit vehicular access to the mast.
